We are super happy with this purchase as we didn’t think there was any way we could crate him successfully! Will update as we have it longer. A lot of times he will still dig or bite at the crate but after about 10 minutes he settles down and there’s no damage to the crate. We did also get anxiety meds at the vet so we give him those before crating. So we splurged on this hoping it would hold him - so far it’s been great! We’ve only had it for about a month, but have used it several times (ranging 30 minutes up to 6 hours) and have had no escapes or injuries! These were our main concerns with crating him as we were scared he’d hurt himself trying to get out. We left him out for several weeks until he tried to dig out through the wall to the garage. Tried the wire crate with carabiners closing it everywhere - took 5 minutes to break one off and squeeze out. Tried a regular wire crate in the bedroom with the door closed - would escape within minutes and dig at the door to get out. We rescued a large pit mix (60ish lbs) and had a hard time figuring out what to do with him when we left home. In addition, we got her a nice plush bed mat and she loves going in for leisurely rests, (especially when she gets kicked off the couch for being too mouthy and hyper) Its Solid, Secure, and large enough for her to be comfortable. Now Selah, doesn't show any signs of that kind of behavior, But knowing that her crate will last through her Adult years, without needing to upgrade or replace, is a nice thought. Things like this do make a difference in overall durability and, in the case a muscle dog goes Nutso, Can keep her contained safely. The Frisco Heavy Duty ones look great, But state that the bars are 22 gauge steel, where the Empire is 20 gauge. There are a few on the market at better or comparable prices, HOWEVER, look carefully at the Description. For the occasions that warrant extended times in her crate, I was certain she would Destroy my Ferrets crate, so I did some research and came up with The Empire Heavy Duty Crate. She seems to have just a little bit of separation anxiety so i have been taking her to work with me every day for the month we've had her. She's been staying in my Ferrets Travel Crate (Midwest Wabbitat Crate).
